The Benefits of Flossing Your Smile

The Benefits of Flossing Your Smile

Whether you believe it or not, flossing is extremely important. In fact, it’s so important that it’s vital for a strong and successful oral health. But why? Well, our Made Ya Smile Dental dental team would be happy to tell you all about the benefits of flossing your smile.

Flossing can:

–Remove plaque: Plaque is a severely dangerous substance that can harm your oral health and smile if it’s not removed on a regular basis. Unfortunately, the plaque likes to live and grow in the spaces between your teeth. When this happens, the substance promotes cavities in the crevices of your smile and also encourages the development of gum disease. To prevent these issues, you can floss your teeth and remove the plaque that resides between your teeth.

–Promote good breath: There are times when food can get stuck in your smile. If this food is odorous, it can cause foul-smelling breath. However, if you have floss handy, you can clean those food particles away and promote a fresher and more pristine breath.

–Provide a clean smile: No one likes the embarrassing moments when they realize they have food stuck in their smile, right? Right. This is why flossing can be so beneficial. If you floss after each meal and snack, you can avoid those embarrassing moments and you can have a clean and attractive smile.

This is why it’s important to floss between your teeth at least once a day, preferably before bed. When you floss, feel free to use a product of your choice. Many choose to use waxed floss because it’s easier to slide between the teeth while others use unwaxed floss because it’s free from flavor.

If you would like to learn more about flossing your smile in Katy, Texas, or one of our other 12 convenient locations, please feel free to call our office and talk to a member of our friendly team. We also encourage you to schedule an appointment with one of our many dentists, including Dr. Michael Kesner if you would like a demonstration on the proper way to floss. We look forward to helping you!
