What is teeth whitening?
Teeth whitening is a restorative dental treatment used to remove difficult stains and discoloration for a brighter, natural-looking smile. At Made Ya Smile Dental, we offer both in-office laser teeth-whitening treatments and at-home gel trays to help patients accomplish their teeth-whitening goals. Consult with our team to determine which teeth-whitening approach is right for you.
Am I an ideal candidate for teeth-whitening treatments?
Both men and women are excellent candidates for teeth-whitening treatments if they:
Have deep stains, yellowing, or other discoloration of the teeth
Have generally healthy teeth and gums
Are in good health overall
Teeth whitening may be appropriate if your stains are caused by long-term use of tobacco, alcohol, staining foods (i.e., coffee, wine), or poor dental hygiene. Teeth-whitening treatments may not be appropriate for patients with restorations or fixtures on the front teeth, including veneers, crowns, or fillings.
Will my results look natural?
With our innovative restorative dental technology, patients can achieve a brighter, natural-looking smile with teeth-whitening treatments. The shade achieved will appear differently per patient, depending on the baseline color of the teeth and the strength of the gel used. However, most of our patients notice an improvement by several shades.
How teeth-whitening treatments work
Patients can participate in customized teeth-whitening treatments at Made Ya Smile Dental within the comforts of one of our private treatment rooms. Mild sedation is available for patients with dental office-related anxiety or who present with a strong gag reflex. The teeth are professionally cleaned to provide an even teeth-whitening application. A barrier is placed over the gums and your eyes are shielded from the laser with specialized glasses. A tooth-whitening gel is applied to the teeth and activated by our Zoom!? laser technology. This process is completed several times in 15-minute increments until the desired shade is achieved. Once your treatment is complete, you are welcome to return home or resume normal daily activities.
Are there at-home teeth-whitening treatments available?
Before receiving your in-home customized teeth-whitening trays, patients must visit our office so our team can collect impressions of your teeth. The impressions help accurately mold the gel-filled trays to your teeth for an even finish. Prescription gels are created based on your personal teeth-whitening goals. If your teeth remain the same without new restorations or damage, you may use them for many years to come and purchase additional gel from our office for future touch-ups.
How long will my teeth whitening results last?
Teeth-whitening results have the potential for lasting several years and will depend on lifestyle choices, medical changes, dietary plans, and dental hygiene practices at home.
